So what do you do when your 72 year old Mama, who can barely turn on her desktop computer, says to you, ‘Honey I want to do that bloggin’ stuff you do all the time.’ What do you do?’
Her motivation is purely monetary mind you, so rather than send her to a free blogging platform, I told her, ‘Well Mama, if you really want to blog and do it right, then we need to get you a good web host first.’ She looks at me with the same blinking wide eyes of my dachsund when she’s expecting a treat, and says excitedly ‘what’s a web host?‘
‘Oh Mama…What’s a Web Host?’
A web host, my dear Mama, is the company that stores all of your web pages. But, a good host is much much more than just a server providing data space, oh much more. A good web hosting service provides a whole range of services, and with superior customer service at the same time. Mama’s still staring at this point, but seems confident so far.
My web host is Mom Webs, and it’s where I plan to stay for as long as I am publishing websites and blogs. I’ve had another host for many years, and quite honestly they were very good. The only problem is they failed to grow with the times. Their service options didn’t evolve to include WordPress blogs or other current services.
‘Aren’t They All the Same Honey?’
Mama looks a little confused and says, ‘So they’re not all the same then?’ Nope Mama dear, not at all. ‘Mom Webs’ is a family owned hosting company that has all of the big bells and whistles as large companies, but with the personal touches that people who are new to blogging need. The service plan options are spelled out completely and the prices are affordable for newbies and blogging pros alike.
I started with Mom Webs just recently in fact, bought my new domains and installed WordPress without a glitch. They even have a helper line if you have questions. What more could you want? Well they’ll install WordPress for you if you really get stuck. Sound like a plan?
Mama is ready to get started blogging. She is reading and learning about how to make money with her blog. Now all she had to do is figure out a domain name…‘Mama’s Blog.com’? sigh…gotta love her.
